New Year's Day Movie Marathon

I had a blissful New Year's Day. I drove back to Rochester from Rushford, unpacked and 'put away' things and then........................................ watched movies. FOUR movies. Four GREAT movies!

First I watched "Freedom Writers," which had me emotionally hooked all the way through. Too bad she didn't get the cute guy to stay. That was a bummer. Should put that book on a list to read.

Then I watched "Pieces of April" with Katie Holmes starring as April, an estranged 21 year old who hosts Thanksgiving for her family - and has to find an oven that works, figure out how to make cranberries, and then waits for her family to show up. It was a good, bittersweet movie.

Then I watched "The Women," a remake of the 1939 movie, "The Women." It was much better than I thought it would be! Quite fun. And not a SINGLE man in the flick! No men at the mall, no men at the office. Only discussed and talked to via telephone. Quite interesting to realize that. And TONS of great strong women actresses. Now must see the original.

Then I watched "Walk, Don't Run," a 1966 movie starring Cary Grant. How fun is he?? I just love his curious looks and amused personality. It was about a man who arrives in Tokyo two days early during the Olympics so there is not a room available anywhere. So he sublets from a young woman (gasp) for a week and then sublets his sublet to a young man (gasp) for a few nights. The young man is an Olympic athlete and architect wannabe. He has Russian friends. It was very silly and fun.

Then the next day I went to see "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button." Wow. It was depressing but fantastical and fun. Just the getting old thing is depressing. That's all. Brad is such a hottie - and how did they make him look 20? I want that magic!

I also watched "Bobby," which I liked much more than I thought I would. It is about the day that Bobby Kennedy is assassinated and the other people that were affected at that Ambassador Hotel. It was great and filled with famous people. Quite good.

So now I'm caught up on my movie-watching for a bit! Just for a bit. ;)
